Digital Snan at Maha Kumbh for ₹1000: Man Offers Virtual Holy Dip, Internet Reacts
Devotees are visiting Maha Kumbh and taking a holy dip at Triveni Sangam as this celebration comes once in 144 years. More than 1.25 crore devotees took bath from morning to evening on February 20. So far the total number of people who have taken baths has reached 58.03 crores. But the long hours of wait, traffic jams of over 10 kilometers make devotees think twice before taking this pilgrimage. A man named Deepak Goel is offering ‘Digital Snan Service’ to people who are unable to visit Maha Kumbh.
He takes printouts of photos of devotees sent to him via WhatsApp and immerses them into Triveni Sangam. He charges Rs. 1100 for his digital snan services. However, his business idea failed to impress the internet.
An instagram user posted this video with caption, "Next Level AI Idea Next Unicorn Company Spotted #artificialimmersion." A user commented on the post, “India got latent series continues.” Another user commented, “He is inspired by Bada Business.” Asking him to pitch his idea on Shark Tank a user wrote, “Shark Tank mai bhejo isko (Send him to Shark Tank.)” Another commented, "Ram Naam Ki Loot Hai, Loot Sake To Loot. Anth Kaal Pachhtayega Jab Praan Jayenge Chhoot," suggesting skepticism about the commercialization of religious practices. Many other criticised his idea.
The largest spiritual and cultural event in the world, the Mahakumbh Mela 2025, began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025) and is scheduled to end on February 26.
