Earthquake in Maharashtra: Quake of Magnitude 2.6 on Richter Scale Hits Solapur

An earthquake of magnitude 2.6 on the Richter scale struck the Solapur district of Maharashtra on Thursday, April 3. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), tremors were felt at around 11.22 am today. The epicenter of the quake was 5 kilometers below the ground. The epicentre of the quake was Solapur.

"EQ of M: 2.6, On: 03/04/2025 11:22:07 IST, Lat: 17.41 N, Long: 75.21 E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Solapur, Maharashtra," said in post on X.

Earlier on Tuesday, tremors were felt in Kolkata and Imphal in eastern India. On March 28, an earthquake hit Nepal, affecting Siliguri and the adjoining areas of Bihar. Tremors were also felt in Namchi, Sikkim, on April 2 and in Leh, Ladakh, on April 1. On March 31, the ground shook in Tawang and Shi Yomi in Arunachal Pradesh, as well as in Gangtok, Sikkim. Additionally, tremors were recorded in Sonipat, Haryana, on March 29. At 2:08 PM, a 2.3-magnitude earthquake was reported.

In March 28, an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 devasted Myanmar that kill more than 3,000 people and injuring 4,000 citizens. The search and rescue operation in the county still going on. According to the Myanmar government spokesperson, 341 people are still missing under the debris. Rescue teams and aid workers from 17 countries have arrived to assist, bringing nearly 1,000 tonnes of relief supplies.
