Kolkata, Feb 22 A 24-year-old Indian woman, whose father has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get her evacuated from the cruise ship Diamond Princess where several have been affected by coronavirus, was tested for the dreaded disease again on Saturday.

Dinesh Thakkar, father of the woman Sonali Thakkar, said he was yet to get any response to his letter from the Prime Minister or others like Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray or the Ministry of External Affairs. He had tweeted the letter to all of them.

Thakkar had also called on Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Friday and personally handed over the letter to him.

"He has assured me that he will try to do something quickly," Thakkar said.

"But So far, there has been no reply from anyone else in the government on when she will be returning as also the procedure that was being followed," said Thakkar.

He said his daughter and other Ind in the ship are all waiting for the Modi government to do something to rescue them.

"I am in touch with my daughter. So far they have no information about any evacuation plans. They are all waiting for the India government to do something. Because (apart from Air India) no other carrier will take them on board, even if they are released," Thakkar told over phone.

"I spoke to her today also. They again tested her today... they go on testing. "This is the third or fourth time that she has been tested. So far, she has tested negative," he said.

Thakkar had on Friday written to the Prime Minister as "a citizen of India" and urged him to get his daughter back in India.

"Our daughter's life is in danger as she is onboard with positive-tested coronavirus patients," he wrote.

Diamond Princess has been quarantined in Japan after hundreds of cases were detected on board. So far, 634 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the ship.
