Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren Takes Oath As Minister in Hemant Soren Govt

Former Chief Minister Champai Soren was sworn in as a minister in the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand on Monday. Ten additional ministers are set to take oath alongside Champai Soren. His resignation from the CM position occurred on July 3, preceding the swearing-in of JMM executive president Hemant Soren as the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand on July 4.

On Monday, the coalition government under Hemant Soren in Jharkhand successfully won the trust vote during a one-day special session of the Assembly, securing 45 votes out of 76. The majority threshold stood at 39 votes. Amidst the session, BJP and AJSU MLAs opted to boycott the voting process and staged a walkout, protesting against the government with vocal slogans.

Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED on January 31 this year in a money laundering case related to a land scam and had to resign as CM. He was succeeded by Champai Soren, who resigned on July 3 after Hemant Soren's release from jail on June 28. Hemant Soren took oath as CM again on July 4.
