Giridih Violence: Several Injured, Shops Torched After Clash Between Two Groups During Holi Procession in Jharkhand
Several people were injured and several shops, motorcycles, and cars allegedly torched after a clash broke out between two groups during a Holi procession in Jharkhand's Giridih district on Friday, March 14. Police forces have been deployed and the situation is under control.
The incident took place in Ghodthamba when a group opposed the passing of a Holi procession through the area, leading to a clash in which both sides pelted each other with stones.

"A large police contingent was deployed to restore peace in the area. The situation is under control and is being monitored closely," Khorimahua Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rajendra Prasad said.

SP Dr Bimal said, "In Ghorthamba OP constituency, an incident of clash between two communities has come to light. During Holi celebration, this incident took place...we are identifying the two communities, we are also identifying the people...once identified, strict action will be taken. Right now, the situation is under control and no one has suffered any major injuries...some vehicles were also set on fire."

Smita Kumari, Deputy Development Commissioner, said, "During the Holi celebrations, some anti-social elements tried to disturb law and order, but now the situation is under control...as per the information we have received, some anti-social elements set a few vehicles on fire... the investigation is being done to know the cause of the incident."
