Gujarat Municipal Election Results 2025: BJP wins 48 of 60 seats in Junagadh Local Body Polls; Congress 11, Independent One

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 48 seats out of 60 in the Junagadh Municipal Corporation in the local body polls which polling took place on Sunday, February 16. As per the State Election Commission (ECI) website, fourty eight seats were won by the BJP, while the Congress party secured eleven seats. Meanwhile, one seat in ward number 9 was won by an independent candidate.

Overall, in the state, the saffron party won 1001 out of 1677 seats across 34 municipalities. The opposition Congress and AAP faced major setbacks and failed to make a significant impact. The voting took place on February 16 for the Junagadh Municipal Corporation, 66 municipalities, and three taluka panchayats in Gujarat.

Additionally, bypolls were conducted for three vacant seats in the municipal corporations of Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, and Surat. The voter turnout was recorded at 57% for Junagadh Municipal Corporation and 68% for the municipalities and taluka panchayats. Notably, Chorwad Municipality recorded the highest turnout at 76%.

Earlier, violence erupted near Chittakhana Chowk, where stone-pelting took place during the victory rally of the winning candidate from Ward No. 8. Several people were reportedly injured in the incident.
