Haryana Congress Expels Seven Leaders for Anti-Party Activities Ahead of 2025 Civic Polls

The Congress party in Haryana has expelled seven leaders for "anti-party activities" ahead of the 2025 municipal corporation elections. Following consultations with state in-charge BK Hariprasad, the leaders, including former DCC presidents Tarlochan Singh and Ashok Khurana from Karnal, Coordination Committee member Pradeep Chaudhary, former DYC president Madhu Chaudhary from Yamuna Nagar, and Congress candidate Ram Niwas Rara from Hisar, have been suspended for six years. Additionally, Harvinder (Lovely) and Ram Kishan Sain, both from Gurugram, also face six-year expulsions.

Recently, Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan expressed concerns about the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), the delay in result announcements, and called for better representation for the SC community. He argued for the use of ballot papers instead of EVMs, citing ongoing skepticism about EVMs' authenticity, and questioned the unusual 10-day delay in the results of the Haryana Municipal Corporation elections.

In previous elections, Congress secured the Deputy Mayor positions in Chandigarh, while the BJP won the mayor post. The Aam Aadmi Party criticized Congress for allegedly having a "secret camaraderie" with the BJP. The Haryana Municipal Corporation Elections are set for March 2, 2025, with results announced on March 12, 2025.
