Himachal Pradesh is a popular tourist destination in India. To enhance the travel experience, the state has decided to raise toll fees for both private and commercial vehicles. This increase will help fund road maintenance and infrastructure improvements.
The toll charges will go up at 55 toll booths, including those on routes to popular tourist spots like Shimla and Manali, resulting in higher travel costs. The new toll rates will affect a variety of vehicles, from personal cars to large cargo trucks. These new hikes will be in roll from 1st April 2025.

Among the busiest toll points is Parwanoo, located on the Kalka-Shimla National Highway (NH-5), a crucial gateway for tourists heading to Shimla. Other major highways leading to popular hill stations will also be affected by the revised toll charges.
Why the toll hike?
Authorities justify the toll hike by stating that the additional revenue will be used to improve road quality, enhance connectivity, and boost travel safety across the region. Toll barriers are strategically placed at major entry and transit points across Himachal Pradesh, with the highest concentration in Una (15 barriers), Solan (13), and Sirmaur (8).

For both tourists and transporters, the increased toll fees will result in higher travel expenses. While this may seem like an added financial strain, the government assures that these funds will contribute to smoother and safer roads over time.
