India's Got Latent Row: SC Rejects Ranveer Allahbadia's Plea to Release Passport

The Supreme Court has rejected YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s request to release his passport while multiple FIRs are pending against him over alleged objectionable remarks on India’s Got Latent. The court said it would reconsider the plea after the investigation is complete. His arrest protection will continue until the next hearing on April 21.

The Controversy Over India’s Got Latent

Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, sparked controversy in February after appearing on an episode of India’s Got Latent with Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani. During the show, he asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?” While the remark was initially met with laughter from those present, it drew strong backlash from politicians and social media users.

The controversy led to multiple FIRs against the show's makers and participants. Allahbadia later posted an apology video on X, admitting that his comment was inappropriate and not funny. He also submitted a written apology to the National Commission for Women.

Despite the Supreme Court granting him interim protection from arrest, it criticized his remarks as "vulgar" and said he had a "dirty mind" that shamed society.

On Monday, March 31, 2025,  Allahbadia released a new podcast featuring a conversation with Buddhist monk Palga Rinpoche.
