“Isska Show Pehle Hi Bandh Hona Chahiye Tha”: Comedian Varun Grover’s Witty Take On Allahbadia Controversy (Watch Video)

Comedian Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent’ was a big success but it is making headlines after Ranveer Allahabadia’s remarks about parents and sex that offended many and the show got into legal trouble. Police complaints were filed against the panellists and show makers in different states. Comedian and songwriter Varun Grover offered his humorous perspective on the issue as the uproar intensifies. He also took a dig at Ranveer Allahbadia’s show and said that just because of its name - BeerBiceps, it should have been banned earlier.

He shared a clip from his recent show in which he is joking about the whole situation. He can be heard saying, "Video recording nahi karni hai (please don’t record) because that is how the comedy world works right? It is a new material. There is a whole process. Hum likhte hain... 3-4 mahina naya content likhte hain fir woh 1 ghante ka show banta hai. Fir woh show ke saath hum tour karte hain all over India (We write new content to make a set, and then go on tour all over the country). Once the tour is almost over, then we record it, and put it on YouTube and then go to jail.”

“There is a process to things. You are not supposed to meddle with the process.... Ek natural order hain cheezo ka theek hai. Toh ussme aap beech mein na aaye, aap na kare record. Aur main nahi chahta ke mein aake phone ki 6MB video se jail jaun. Kum se kum apne high-quality video se jaun. Mujhe bhi thodhi izzat mile (There is a natural order of everything So please do not meddle in that. I don’t want to go to jail because of a video shot on the phone, I want to go because of high-quality content which I post on my channel),” he further said.

Joking about the video quality of the phone he said, "I can’t say ‘Yeh main thodhi hun, yeh Samay Raina hai’. (I can't say this is not me this is Samay Raina)”

He said that there were people who discouraged him for his political jokes and content. Grover said, “People used to ask me to be neutral, saying that my show might get banned.... Jo bol rahe the unke bandh ho gaye (People who used to say this, their shows have shut down instead).”

He also roasted Allhabadia’s show BeerBiceps and said, “Iska show pehle bandh hona chaiye tha because of the name, and look at the content after that (His show should have been stopped for his name itself). It sounds like a pornstar from Gurgaon.”

India's Got Latent Controversy:

When Ranveer was on the panel of India’s Got Latent he asked a contestant that "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?" The episode also featured content creators like Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija. For his remarks Allhabadia, Samay Raina, and other panelists were summoned.
