Jaipur Hit-and-Run: Two Killed, Nine Injured After Speeding Car Mows Down Crowd in Rajasthan; CCTV Footage Surfaces

Two people were killed and nine others were injured after a speeding SUV mowed down a crowd in Rajasthan's Jaipur on Monday night, April 8. The hit-and-run occurred in the Nahargarh area, and the injured are receiving treatment at the trauma centre. The driver, Usman, was under the influence of alcohol and was driving at high speed, killing two people and injuring nine. He initially fled the spot, fearing a public thrashing, but was later chased by locals on a bike, successfully stopped, and handed over to the police.

The man and woman who died on the spot in the hit-and-run incident were sent for postmortem. SMS Police Station Sub-Inspector Kanhaiyalal told ANI, "A hit-and-run case has come to light from the Nahargarh area. In the incident, nine people were injured and brought to the hospital. Two people have died."

A viral CCTV footage shared on social media shows a speeding SUV coming from the wrong side at high speed in a narrow lane, first striking two-wheelers. After the riders fell on the street, the vehicle ran over them. Further, in a 5-second video, people can be seen lying unconscious on the road. Chaos erupted in the area after the car fled the spot. The footage shows a few locals on a bike chasing the SUV involved in the accident.
