Jammu and Kashmir: Two More Groups Affiliated With Separatist Hurriyat Walk Out, Says Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed on Thursday, March 27, that two more groups affiliated with the separatist group All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) have exited the separatist party. Shah said the groups have shown trust in the new India built by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

"Another great news from Kashmir Valley. Two more groups affiliated with the Hurriyat, namely J&K Tahreeqi Isteqlal and J&K Tahreek-I-Istiqamat, have discarded separatism and reposed their trust in the new Bharat built by PM Shri  @narendramodi Ji," said Shah in a post on X.

Ghulam Nabi Sofi, chief of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-i-Istiqlal, announced its formal disassociation from the APHC or any other group pursuing a similar ideology here on Wednesday, reported Deccan Chronicle.

Muhammad Sharief Sartaj, chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement (JKFM), has also announced his dissociation from the APHC and other separatist groups and leaders. Strongly opposing the APHC's ideology, he said it has failed to address the aspirations and grievances of the people of J&K. Calling himself a committed citizen of India, Mr. Sartaj, who is based in Jammu, pledged to dedicate himself to upholding national integrity. He also announced the disbandment of the JKFM.
