The session facilitated by JIBS Principal Director and psychologist-behavioural expert Dr Sanjeev P Sahni was attended by more than 1,500 parents of Class 8th to 12th students as well as educationists.

The workshop's purpose was to identify the communication roadblocks and develop effective communication skills through an interactive session and related activities.

Dr Sahni said that understanding the psychology of a child and his or her development was extremely important for one's growth, both physical and mental.

"Parents need to be more aware and equipped to understand the upheavals in their child's moods and respond accordingly. It is up to us, as parents, teachers and counsellors to train their minds. A holistic development can help children acquire skills more effectively and rapidly, which is essential to successfully survive and thrive in today's day and age," he told the audience.

In all, 30 top schools from Kolkata, including Don Bosco School Liluah, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, South City International School, LLR Public School, Jewish Girls School, Ling Liang School, Birla High School and La Martenelle School participated in this event.

JIBS, a research institute of OP Jindal Global University (JGU), has so far conducted over 30,000 counselling and training sessions in nearly 3,000 schools for educators and students and short-term courses on stress and anger management, ADHD, learning disability, troubled teens, psychological counselling skills, and effective communication between parents and children.
