The Allahabad High Court Bar Association staged a protest on Tuesday, March 25, at Gate Number 3 against the transfer of Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Verma to the Allahabad High Court. The demonstration followed the Supreme Court Collegium’s confirmation of its decision to recommend Justice Verma’s transfer. He is currently facing an inquiry after a large sum of cash was allegedly discovered at his official residence in Delhi.
During the court's lunch hours, the Bar Association passed a resolution against the transfer. Following this, the lawyers abstained from judicial work for the rest of the day. Allahabad High Court Bar Association Secretary Vikrant Pandey said, "We will continue the strike until our demands are met..."

The president of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association said, "The main thing is that our fight is not against any judge but against the system. There are hard-working judges here, and now their image is in danger."
"Allahabad High Court is being considered as a dumping ground. If a court judge is being transferred for corruption charges, he is being transferred to Allahabad HC...Surpreme Court knows the condition of Allahabad HC...instead of resolving the defect, if you transfer further defective people here, the system will collapse," said President Anil Tiwari.
"Yesterday, we had a meeting and till now, our token strike has not been acknowledged by the Supreme Court officials. After a discussion in the meeting, it was decided that the strike will continue indefinitely until our demands are met," said Advocate Dinesh Yadav.
