Patna, Sep 8 A lawyer at Danapur court was gunned down by two unidentified assailants in Patna's Naubatpur area on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 11.30 a.m. when advocate Harender Singh was on his way to Danapur court. Two unidentified men intercepted him near Surya Temple and opened fire at him, following which he died on the spot due to a gunshot injury on his chest.

The attackers after executing the crime, waved their firearms in the air to scare away passersby and fled from the spot.

The SHO of Naubatpur police station said the identity of the attackers had not been established yet. "We are making efforts to trace them," he said.

"The attackers waited at the Surya Temple and it indicates that they knew the daily route of the deceased. We have some clues, including the registration number of vehicles. They will be put behind the bars soon," the SHO added.

Following the incident, the victim's relatives reached the spot and staged a protest there before leaving and taking the body with them. However, the police managed to take the body in the evening for post-mortem.
