Madhya Pradesh Boat Accident: CM Mohan Yadav Expresses Grief Over Shivpuri Tragedy, Orders Probe After Seven People Reported Dead (Watch Video)

Seven pilgrims, including four children, are missing as the boat carrying fifteen devotees capsized in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district on March 18. Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav expresses grief over Shivpuri boat tragedy. He also ordered an inquiry about this accident.

He said, “I express condolences for the seven people who lost their lives. I have ordered an inquiry into this incident. People travelling by boat should also be careful. I hope the remaining people are rescued safely."

The devotees hail from Rajwan Village, 250 km far from Bhopal, and on the bank of Matatila Dam Reservoir. The devotees were on a religious trip to Siddh Baba Temple which is on an island inside the dam, when the incident happened.

"The accident happened while they were returning from the temple. Their boat capsized between 4:30 pm and 5 pm. Of the 15 people on board, eight were rescued by nearby boats or swam ashore. But seven people are missing. Rescue operations are on," Shivpuri SP Aman Singh Rathore said.

"Fishing boats have also been roped in, and SDRF teams are leading the rescue effort," Rathore said. There have also been calls for more teams from Datia and Gwalior. Kanha Lodhi, 7, Shiva Lodhi, 8, Kumkum Lodhi, 15, Chaina Lodhi, 14, Ram Devi, 35, Leela Lodhi, 40, and Sharda Lodhi, 55 are names those who are missing.
