Madhya Pradesh Laborer Receives Rs 314 Crore Tax Notice, Hospitalised Due to Shock
A daily wage laborer was left in shock after receiving an income tax notice for Rs 314 crore. Struggling with financial difficulties, the massive tax demand took a toll on his health, and he is now undergoing treatment at a hospital. The laborer has requested a thorough investigation into the matter. Chandrashekhar Panditrao Kohad, a native of Betul district in Madhya Pradesh, has been working as a laborer in Nagpur for the past few days to support his family. Recently, he received an income tax notice amounting to Rs 314.79 crore. Living in a rented house and working as a daily wage earner, he was devastated upon seeing the notice.
The issue surfaced when the Income Tax Department in Maharashtra sought property details from Betul Multai Municipality under Chandrashekhar’s name. The investigation was based on land records allegedly linked to him. However, it was later revealed that the land did not belong to Chandrashekhar but was registered under Manohar Harkchand, son of Radhelal Kirad from Deothan in Amla. Municipal officials clarified that no land was registered under Chandrashekhar’s name. This information has been conveyed to the tax department.

Chandrashekhar said his wife is unwell and the entire family has been under mental stress since receiving the notice. A heart patient himself, the unexpected tax demand worsened his condition, and he was hospitalised in Nagpur.
Chandrashekhar explained that he had opened a bank account in Nagpur four years ago, where he deposited small savings from his daily earnings. A bank agent had taken his mobile number, but it was never linked to his account. He now suspects that his name may have been misused without his knowledge. Seeking clarity on how such a massive tax demand was issued against him, he has urged authorities for a detailed investigation.
