Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: FIR Registered Against Eight for Spreading Misleading Posts Online

Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Police in Uttar Pradesh have launched legal action against individuals spreading misleading content about the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Cases have been filed against eight people for allegedly sharing a video from Nepal and falsely claiming it was from the religious event.

The accused reportedly shared the video with false claims that it depicted scenes from the Maha Kumbh. The posts described the event as "Maha Kumbh 2025 Prayagraj, a festival of death." The posts also falsely reported that three people died in a stampede and that their relatives carried the bodies due to a lack of ambulances.

Upon verification, police confirmed that the video was from Nepal and had no connection to the Kumbh Mela. The Kumbh Mela police clarified in an official post that action had been taken against those spreading the false claims.
