Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: High Speed travel at 320Km/h, Check out Ticket Prices, Route, and Completion Timeline

The much awaited and India's high-speed rail project which is popularly known as the bullet train, is currently under construction along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor. The project marks a major leap for India's railway infrastructure.  The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, built by the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Indian Railways, aims to deliver world-class speed, safety, and comfort in rail transport. Reaching speeds of 320 km/h, this high-speed rail will significantly reduce travel time, enhance comfort, and modernize India's railway system.

Utilizing advanced Japanese Shinkansen technology, renowned for its safety and reliability, the project encompasses trains, signalling systems, and railway design standards. To support the ‘Make in India’ initiative, technology transfer will facilitate domestic manufacturing of key components, boosting local industries. The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, spanning 508 kilometres, will connect 12 major stations between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, dramatically reducing travel time. This route aims to improve regional connectivity, support economic growth, and alleviate road congestion.

Ticket prices are expected to vary by distance. A short Thane-BKC ride (20 minutes) is projected to cost around Rs 250, while a slightly longer Virar-BKC journey (24 minutes) may cost around Rs 500. The 12 stations along the route are: Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati. These stations will feature modern infrastructure, including high-speed platforms, waiting lounges, and accessible facilities.

Construction is progressing rapidly, particularly in Gujarat, with visible development of piers, viaducts, and station infrastructure. The Surat-Bilimora segment is projected to be operational by 2026, with full corridor completion anticipated by 2030.
