A "stampede-like atmosphere" was reported by the Delhi Police at the New Delhi train station on March 23 as a result of high traffic caused by delays in the departure of the Shiv Ganga Express, Swatantrata Senani Express, Jammu Rajdhani Express, Lucknow Mail, and Magadh Express. Delhi Police stated that "heavy passenger congestion was observed at the platforms due to the cumulative effect of these delays."

Similar to the crowd control issues experienced during previous Mahakumbh arrangements, the Delhi Police said that the scenario at the New Delhi Railway Station descended into chaos and created a stampede-like atmosphere.

To prevent any unfortunate situation, the necessary crowd control measures have to be implemented as soon as possible. Delhi Police confirmed there were no reported casualties.

"There was a heavy rush at New Delhi Railway Station, but there was no stampede or stampede-like situation," the Ministry of Railways claimed in their statement, denying the existence of a stampede. Unreserved passengers are being transported through the holding area according to protocol.
