New Safari Rules at Tadoba: Gypsy Jumping, Full-Day Access & Late-Night Entry

An extended gypsy jumping pattern, special facilities for full-day safaris, and loosened entry requirements for late-night visitors are just a few of the significant reforms that the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) authorities have implemented to improve the safari experience and facilitate travel for visitors.

The introduction of the gypsy jumping pattern in buffer zones, which permits presidential gypsy vehicles to operate in lieu of gypsy vehicles taking their turn, with proper payment of fees, was granted by officials in response to long-standing requests for a better tourist experience. It is anticipated that this action would enhance the safari experience and lessen reliance on the few vehicles available in some areas. Authorities said that both core and buffer regions will now permit a single entry and exit for full-day safaris, with breaks in between.

Given the restricted size of the Pangdi core region for a full-day safari, the Resort Association asked that visitors be permitted to enter the Kolsa zone. At each TATR gate, the deputy directors (of the core and buffer regions) will report on the full-day tourist zones in response to the request.

The Resort Association has also been permitted to compile a list of updated gypsy vehicles for full-day safaris, which will be accessible on the reservation website and enable travellers to select cars in a rotating fashion. Online reservations for full-day safaris will soon be offered to improve convenience.

Another important move is the opening of the Padmapur and Kondegaon gates to visitors having confirmed resort reservations during limited hours after 10 PM. However, to use this facility, visitors will need to show confirmation of a reservation. To prevent annoyance, resort operators have been directed to notify visitors of admission requirements.

Conservation and tourism management were other topics of discussion. For the convenience of visitors, authorities approved the extension of morning and evening safari hours during the summer.

Additionally, a significant issue brought up by visitors will soon be resolved with the ability to pay camera fees online. Resort owners will be instructed to reduce sound levels during both interior and outdoor activities as part of increased efforts to reduce light and noise pollution.

The Resort Association has 30 days to make sure that these rules are followed. All resorts are now required to implement organised disposal procedures for trash management. While the TATR will run awareness campaigns on proper waste disposal, the association will petition local authorities for improved waste collection services.

Officials also talked about the Green Rating system under the Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE) to encourage environmentally friendly operations. To promote sustainable tourism, a list of resorts that practise environmental responsibility will be posted online. Officials recognised concerns regarding the availability of instant quota permits at specific entrance ports and promised to address any technical issues. Additionally, to assist travellers in tracking their waiting list positions, the booking system will soon provide RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) status.

Responding to the safety concerns, authorities agreed to allow limited fencing around the resort using bamboo and organic materials to avoid any sort of wildlife intrusion.
