Odisha reports 15 Covid-19 cases, highest in a single day

The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Odisha has gone up to 20 with 15 new cases getting reported on Friday, the highest in a single day.

Bhubaneswar, April 3 The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Odisha has gone up to 20 with 15 new cases getting reported on Friday, the highest in a single day.

The capital city of Bhubaneswar alone reported 10 cases on Friday, the Health Department said in a tweet.

Seven close contacts of Bhubaneswar's Suryanagar case, including his wife, daughter and tenants, have been confirmed Covid-19 positive.

Earlier, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) had revealed the identity of the Suryanagar patient with an intention to safeguard the public who have come in contact with him since March 1.

Besides, three persons of Bomikhal area in Bhubaneswar have been confirmed Covid-19 positive.

Bhadrak district reported two cases while Cuttack, Puri and Jajpur reported one case each, the Health Department said.

In order to control the spread of the virus, BMC has sealed Suryanagar and Bomikhal areas in the city.

The Odisha government has declared complete shutdown in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak town for 48 hours starting 8 p.m. on Friday to prevent community transmission of Covid-19.
