Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who has been suffering from fever for the past two days is likely to be shifted to a hospital in the state capital city. The veteran politician was busy in the the assembly election campaign and was constantly travelling across the state. On election day on April 6, Chandy looked weak and was waiting for his turn to cast his vote at his home turf Puthupally in Kottayam district aiming for his 12th successive electoral victory. Following that he returned to his home in the state capital city and was resting and with fever continuing to rise, doctors attended to him on Thursday and advised that he be shifted to a hospital.

Earlier, Chandy rejected KPCC president Mullappally’s statement regarding UDF’s plan to seek LDF support to defeat BJP in Manjeshwaram. He pointed out that UDF can defeat BJP in Manjeshwaram without the support of LDF. “UDF was successful in defeating BJP in the last polls. So we will repeat the victory this time too. We are not ready for any compromise with BJP. Defeating BJP is the main aim of Congress,” said Oommen Chandy. Mullappally declared the other day that UDF is ready to cooperate with LDF for countering RSS and BJP in Manjeshwaram. He also asked LDF whether they are ready to support UDF. “CPM has fielded a weak candidate in Manjeshwaram to support BJP. So, we know that LDF will not cooperate with UDF,” said Mullappally criticising LDF.
