In the survey, the biggest issues felt by the people in these two states included status of local employment/business, status of water supply, condition of local roads, status of electricity supply, condition of local health services, condition of local public transport, price rise, state of economy, state of law and order, control of corruption in government and women's security.
In Haryana, 29.1 per cent people reposed their faith in the BJP for resolving these issues while 17.8 per cent thought Congress could address these problems better.
Interestingly, 15.9 per cent of those surveyed felt that no party can solve these problems and 20.7 per cent could not say anything on this in Haryana.
Among other parties, the BSP was thought to be better by 2.1 per cent and the INLD by 1.7 per cent in the state.
In Maharashtra, 28.9 per cent felt that the BJP could solve these problems better and 13.9 per cent thought the Congress could do so.
BJP's coalition partner Shiv Sena was voted by 6.6 per cent on this aspect while Congress ally NCP was voted for by 11.7 per cent. A mere 2 per cent felt that Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) could fit the bill.
A substantial 14.8 per cent of those surveyed felt no party can solve these problems, according to the survey conducted between September 16 and October 16.
Asked who should be held responsible for these problems, 28.1 per cent in Haryana blamed the state government and 11.9 per cent the Central government. At least, 9.9 per cent held the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar responsible while 9.8 per cent blamed the local MLA and 2.9 per cent the local municipality/panchayat.
Of those surveyed in Haryana, 3.6 per cent blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these problems while 30.5 per cent opted for "Others/Can't say".
In Maharashtra, 22.5 per cent of those enquired held the state government responsible for these problems and 10 per cent blamed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The local MLA was held responsible by 8.6 per cent even as 11.6 per cent blamed the Central government and 5.1 per cent the Prime Minister for these issues.
The local MP was held responsible by 2.2 per cent and local municipality/panchayat by 5.6 per cent.
The sample size in Haryana was 10,061 and in Maharashtra, it was 19,489.
