Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Twitter handle was briefly hacked in the early hours of Sunday, with the unknown individuals writing about bitcoin. The post was deleted soon after and the Prime Minister's Office said that the account had now been secured. "The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured.

Even as hashtags such as "bitcoin" and "hacked" continue to trend with posts pertaining to PM Modi's late night tweet, the post in question has since been deleted. Twitter took the necessary steps to secure the compromised account as soon as it became aware of the activity, a Twitter spokesperson said in an emailed statement, according to Reuters, adding an investigation revealed no signs of any other impacted accounts at present.
