Popular Shortlist for 17th Crossword Book Awards released

Literary works by Shashi Tharoor, Sadhguru, V.V.S. Laxman, Twinkle Khanna, Rujuta Diwekar and Amish are among the 30 books in six categories that feature in the Popular Shortlist for the 17th Crossword Book Awards announced here on Friday.

The Popular Shortlist is based on round-the-year book sales across Crossword stores. It features a mix of eminent and budding authors across various genres making sure that there is something for every literature enthusiast.

The next phase of the awards will see readers choose the best literary work in each category through online voting from October 4 to mid-November.

The nominees for the Popular Choice - Fiction are:

* "The Girl In Room 105" by Chetan Bhagat (Westland)

* "Pyjamas Are Forgiving" by Twinkle Khanna (Juggernaut)

* "Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta" by Amish (Westland)

* "The Perfect Us" by Durjoy Dutta (Penguin Random House India)

* "Don't Tell The Governor" by Ravi Subramaniam (HarperCollins India)

The books in contention for the Popular Choice - Non-fiction are:

* "Life's Amazing Secrets: How to Find Balance and Purpose in Your Life" by Gaur Gopal Das (Penguin Random House India)

* "Democracy on the Road: A 25 Year Journey through India" by Ruchir Sharma (Allen Lane - Penguin Random House India)

* "How to Write a Book & Make it a Bestseller" by Radhakrishnan Pillai (The Write Place)

* Flowers on the Path" by Sadhguru (Penguin Random House India)

* "The Paradoxical Prime Minister" by Shashi Tharoor (Aleph)

The nominees for the Popular Choice - Business and Management include:

* "Stories at Work: Unlock the Secret to Business Storytelling" by Indranil Chakraborty (Portfolio - Penguin Random House India)

* "Corporate Monk, A Journey From Wealth To Wisdom" by Anju Sharma (The Write Place)

The nominees in the Biography category include:

The nominees in the Health and Fitness category include:
