Prayagraj Accident: 10 Killed After Car Carrying Devotees From Chhattisgarh to Maha Kumbh Collides With Bus (Watch Video)

At least 10 devotees died, and several others were injured after a car with devotees coming from Chhattisgarh to attend Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj collided with a bus on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway under PS Meja on Friday night, February 15. According to the reports, Bolero car belonged to Chhattisgarh's Korba collied with a bus from Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh, leading to 10 deaths and more than 19 injuries.

The bodies have been taken to Swaroop Rani Medical Hospital for post-mortem. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of a road accident in Prayagraj. He expressed condolences to the bereaved families and directed officials to expedite relief efforts. He also instructed authorities to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and wished them a speedy recovery. This is not the first instance that such accidents involving Maha Kumbh devotees occurred.

On February 11, seven from Andhra Pradesh returning from Mahakumb were killed after tempo collided with a truck on Jabalpur Highway. Also, a couple from Agra died and four others were injured when their car collided with a truck while they were returning from the Kumbh. According to Station House Officer Rudra Pratap Singh, the truck was seized and the driver was detained.

DCP Yamunanagar, Vivek Chandra Yadav, confirmed a horrific road accident in Prayagraj, where a Bolero carrying devotees from Chhattisgarh to Maha Kumbh collided with a bus, resulting in 10 deaths. The incident occurred on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway near PS Meja around midnight. Further investigation is underway.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in a post on X, said, "The road accident on Mirzapur Highway in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh is heartbreaking. My deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way."
