Rahul Gandhi Summoned by UP Court Over Alleged Defamatory Remarks on Army, Hearing on March 24

A court in Uttar Pradesh has summoned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over alleged defamatory remarks against the Indian Army during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in December 2022. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Alok Verma has scheduled the next hearing for March 24. Gandhi will be required to appear before the court.

The case was filed by Uday Shankar Srivastava, a former director of the Border Roads Organisation, through his lawyer Vivek Tiwari. The complainant alleged that Gandhi made objectionable comments about the clash between Indian and Chinese troops on December 9, 2022, while speaking to the media during the yatra.

According to the complaint, Gandhi's remarks were derogatory and damaged the reputation of the Indian Army.
