Ration card is very important part for common man it is an official document issued by state governments in India, allowing eligible households to purchase subsidized food grains under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). It also serves as a common form of identification for many citizens. If you have a ration card and you have not completed your e-KYC, the the last date for doing e-kyc has been extended to April 30. Earlier, the last date was March 31. If you do not complete the e-KYC work within this period, your name will be removed from the ration card.

The government has extended the deadline 6 times so far. But this time it is being said that this is the last time to extend this date. The Ministry of Food and Supplies has written to all the states and said that the e-KYC work should be completed by this new date. E-KYC will have to be completed by April 30 in any case. For e-KYC, beneficiaries can go to the PDS shop and complete this process with the help of e-POS machines.

Why is KYC necessary?
According to media reports, about 23.5% of ration cards are still pending verification. KYC stands for Know Your Customer. This is used to verify your identity. People with fake ration cards are being asked to do KYC to remove them from the system. It has been observed that many people are taking the benefits of ration card holders without being eligible. This process has been started to remove these names.
How to do e-KYC from home?
First of all, go to the website of the Public Distribution System of your state. There, click on 'e-KYC for Ration Card'. After that, enter the ration card number and Aadhaar number. Enter the Aadhaar number of the head of the family, after which an OTP will be sent to the mobile number, fill it, enter all the information and submit.
