At least 15 individuals, including women and children, have been injured after a floating bridge collapsed in Varkala, Kerala, earlier today. Officials have attributed the collapse to the impact of strong winds.

Rescue operations were swiftly initiated, with lifeguards and security personnel successfully retrieving those who fell into the sea. The injured have been transported to nearby hospitals, with two reported to be in critical condition.

The bridge, which was inaugurated by Kerala Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riyas in December last year, marks the seventh floating bridge in the region. Further investigations into the cause of the collapse are underway. Stay tuned for more updates.
