Snowfall in Srinagar: First Snow of the Season Welcomes Winter in Jammu and Kashmir's Summer Capital (Watch Video)

Winter season's first snowfall has started in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar on Friday, December 28. It is also reported that vehicular traffic has been suspended on Mughal Road due to heavy snowfall in the region.

The minimum temperature improved in most parts of the Kashmir region. Light snowfall was also reported at a few higher reaches in the Union Territory. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the influence of the western disturbance, light rainfall is likely in the plains of Jammu and light snow is expected in Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range.

The drop in the minimum temperature led to the freezing of waterbodies, including Dal Lake. Srinagar recorded a low of minus minus 7.3 degrees Celsius on Thursday night, slightly down from the previous night’s minus 7 degrees Celsius.
