Statue of Bal Thackeray to be unveiled soon in Mumbai

The much awaited statue of late Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray will soon see the light of the day which is expected to be around 9-feet tall.

The much awaited statue of late Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray will soon see the light of the day which is expected to be around 9-feet tall. According to reports, doing the rounds the party is keen to get the statue up by January 23, 2020. The day also marks much significance as it happens to mark the 94th birth anniversary of the Sena founder. 

The site under construction is the triangular traffic island at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk, opposite Maharashtra state police headquarters. As the area is part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya sub-precinct at Fort and close to I fountain in the roundabout opposite Regal Cinema MHCC permission is compulsory. 

Meanwhile, the BMC officials also confirmed that the statue will also require the nod of Mumbai Arts Commission which looks into regulating installations and maintenance of art in public places. "MUAC must give the green light as the statue needs to look exactly the way Bal Thackeray looked, panel experts can point out changes if required.'' said a source. Bal Thackeray's son Uddhav Thackeray was recently named the new CM of Maharashtra.
