Superstar Suriya demands cancellation of NEET 2021 exams calls it unfair on certain students

Tamil actor Suriya Sivakumar has voiced support for students on Saturday. He took to Twitter and demanded cancellation of the NEET 2021. He said that education should be a state's responsibility and right and that this exam was against the interest of the students and the state. He further said that this examination is ruining the career of students. In an official statement, the popular Tamil Actor said that “uneven level playing field for the rich and poor when it comes to education, having one common entrance exam is against social justice.” He also added that NEET was against the interest of students who are from poor background.

“An examination like NEET is not only against the interest of the student, but also against the interest of the state,” the actor says. He has also asked that all education should be brought under state list and that all should political parties should unite for the cause.The Soorarai Pottru actor, on behalf of his NGO Agaram Foundation which mainly emphasis helping students from the backward section, submitted the letter to the high-level panel, headed by Justice AK Rajan, which was appointed by Tamil Nadu chief minister, MK Stalin. The objective of the panel is to study the impact of NEET on government school students and marginalized students.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, MK Stalin had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to cancel the NEET 2021 exams due to the pandemic. The exam is scheduled to be held on August 1, however, application forms for the same are not yet released. On the work front, Suriya was last seen in Soorarai Pottru which was directed by Sudha Kongara and bankrolled by Suriya and Guneet Monga under the 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment banners. The movie also had an ensemble cast of Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, Mohan Babu, and Karunas. The film was partly based on the real-life events of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath and the book, Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey, written by him.  The film projected the struggle of an aspiring airline entrepreneur who created a space travel revolution by offering tickets at just 1 rupee.
