The Supreme Court (SC) asked the petitioner claiming 200 deaths happened in the Delhi Railway Station Stampede if he is alleging that the state government is neglecting the issue. The SC dismissed his plea on February 28 and said that let the persons who are affected approach the court.
The petitioner, Anand Legal Aid Forum Trust, said that 200 deaths took place at the site during the incident on February 15.
As per the official records, only 18 deaths were reported. The court sought evidence for his claims and said that the ones affected should approach the court.

A bench comprising Justice BR Gavai and Justice PK Mishra was hearing the case. The bench refused to entertain this issue and asked the petitioner to approach the High Court.
Justice PK Mishra said, “If any person has died and the victim’s family has not got the ex-gratia, they can approach the court and say that my name is not there… have you come across any such incident?”
The petitioner said that some videos and eyewitnesses can prove that the death toll was higher. But, the bench expressed that it will not entertain this matter.
Last week, the Delhi High Court asked the Union Government and Railways to respond to this incident in a plea that sought measures to prevent stampedes at railway stations.
