Tabrez Ansari murder case: Six accused get bail from HC

On Tuesday, six accused in the murder case of Tabrez Ansari got bail from the High Court in Saraikela, Jharkhand. A bench of Justice R Mukhopadhyay of the Jharkhand High Court granted bail to Bhimsen Mandal, Chamu Nayak, Mahesh Mahali, Satyanarayana Nayak, Madan Nayak, Vikram Mandal after six months in the case. All the accused had filed bail applications in the High Court.

During the hearing, their advocate AK Sahani told the bench that they were not named in the FIR in the Tabrez Ansari case and neither did the accused Pappu Mandal named them in his statement to the police. Despite all this, all the accused have been in jail for almost six months. Counsel for the accused told the bench that on 18 June 2019, Tabrez Ansari was arrested by the police on charges of theft and the CJM court sent him to jail. On June 22, he was ill and Tabarez died at the Sadar Hospital in Seraikela during treatment. In this way it is a case of death in custody. Therefore, they should be granted bail.

During this their bail was opposed by the defendant sayimng that all six people were involved in the incident of assault. After hearing both the sides, the court granted bail to the six accused. Tabrez's wife S Parveen filed an FIR in the case of mob violence alleging that Tabrez was beaten up by a mob and he died because of it. The police  had arrested all the six accused in this case.
