Uthangarai, Tamil Nadu (December 27, 2024): At least 22 passengers were injured when a tourist bus overturned on Friday. The incident occurred near Thurinjipatti in Krishnagiri district as bus traveling from Dharmapuri to Tiruvannamalai. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. According to reports, officials have been instructed to provide assistance. A video from news agency IANS shows rescuers assisting the injured. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the incident.
Earlier in the day, an ambulance overturned on the Trichy-Chennai route near Ayyanar Kovil in Maduranthakam. The ambulance was traveling from Tiruppur to Chennai when it crashed, causing injuries to six women. Five of the women were accompanying a patient. The ambulance driver also sustained injuries but is in stable condition.
The crash caused significant traffic congestion for about an hour as the overturned ambulance blocked the road. Local police arrived to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Local officials have urged motorists to be cautious as work to clear the site continues.
