Some older initiatives are also set to be expanded in the coming years.

Among various initiatives to use QR codes, the NDMC deployed an online mechanism to take the feedback/response through installation of 331 tablets at Public Toilet Units (PTUs) and Community Toilet Units (CTUs).

In this initiative, over 19 lakh feedbacks and responses were received.

Now, taking a cue from the success of the initiative, NDMC has installed QR plates in all PTUs/CTUs through which user response can be provided.

In another innovative use of QR codes, the civic body has put boards with QR codes on 100 trees in Lodhi Garden. These QR codes will provide medicinal, spiritual, heritage values of the tree to anyone who scans this code.

Now, the NDMC plans to increase these to at least 4,000 more types of trees.

Apart from trees, the civic body has successfully installed Alpha Numeric Smart Address code in more than 50,000 properties in its area. These special address code help in keeping a check on the garbage disposal process as also faster location detection by service providing units of the NDMC in case of a complaint.

In addition, the NDMC gets the complete status of revenue dues like electricity, water, property tax etc., and can track its service delivery vehicles.

The scheme is set to be completed by March 2020.

While most of the smart initiatives aim towards making the area smarter, faster and more transparent, NDMC's smart pole vision aims to enable convergence of many services like Wi-Fi and to make possible intelligent sensor based Internet of Things including features for public safety, IP based PTZ camera, free Wi-Fi to public, fibre network connectivity and environmental monitoring sensors.
