Twitter users divided over Cats movie

Hollywood movie 'Cats' trended as moviegoers were clearly divided over the stage musical version, with Twitter fans both praising and trashing it.

A tweet on the official Twitter handle @catsmovie got 626 retweets and 3.5K likes, with many fans expressing dismay that the movie was yet to come to their respective countries.

One fan posted a picture of hers all ready to go to the theatre. "I get to see it tomorrow night!!! Considering wearing my cat pyjamas!"

One fan wrote: "I LOVED IT!!!"

One user said: "Just got home from seeing this SPECTACULAR movie! I loved it! Francesca was an amazing cast for Victoria!"

"Okay, I saw it but now I'm questioning my cats motives. Like what's her angle? And what's her real name? Is she a Jellicle Cat? A magician? I HAVE QUESTIONS," read one post.

"OH NOOOOO. Please tell us how it is!!! Still having second thoughts about whether I should watch it or not," tweeted another fan.

One user wrote: "CATS DISASTER OF THE DECADE."

"What a mess this movie is," opined another disappointed user.

One user posted a funny remark: "I don't think cats even wanted this movie to happen."

Cats is a 2019 musical fantasy movie that is based on a stage musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which in turn is based on poetry collection 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' (1939) by T.S. Eliot.

Cats was released in the UK and the US on December 20. In Australia, it will release on December 26.
