A man allegedly bit off a portion of his wife’s nose during a dispute at a Maha Shivratri procession in Kaiserganj on Wednesday night. The incident took place at the Devlaka intersection in front of a large crowd of devotees.

The woman, identified as Saroj Kumari, had gone to the area to call her children, who were watching the ‘Shiv Baraat’ procession. Her husband, Sandeep Kumar, arrived shortly after and started arguing with her. The dispute quickly escalated as he kicked and punched her before biting off part of her nose.

Hearing the commotion, police officers stationed at the intersection intervened. They separated the couple and sent Saroj to Bahraich Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Sandeep fled the scene before he could be apprehended. Saroj is recovering in the hospital, and a case has been registered against her husband based on her complaint.
