A shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh has led to accusations of police brutality resulting in the death of a 17-year-old boy. The incident occurred in the Basti district, where the minor was detained by local police following a minor dispute. According to reports, the boy was subjected to severe torture at the police station. He became unconscious due to the alleged beating, and upon noticing his deteriorating condition, the police officers reportedly left him at his home.
Tragically, shortly after being taken home, the boy began vomiting blood. His family immediately rushed him to a local hospital, but doctors there referred him to the district hospital. The young man succumbed to his injuries on the way to the larger medical facility. The grieving family has accused the Basti police of using third-degree methods during their interrogation of the minor, ultimately leading to his death. Following this devastating loss, the family staged a protest outside the hospital, placing the boy's body on the ground and chanting slogans demanding justice against the police. The incident took place in Ubhai village within the Dubolia police station area.
The family recounts that the boy had gone to a nearby shop to purchase chewing tobacco when a fight broke out with some locals. The police intervened and detained the teenager. The family alleges that the police subjected him to torture throughout the night under the guise of interrogation. By Tuesday morning, the boy was reportedly bleeding from his mouth after a brutal beating. Recognizing the severity of his condition, the officers allegedly transported him to his home. Upon seeing his dire state, the family rushed him to the hospital. Despite initial medical attention, his condition worsened, prompting a referral to a larger hospital. Sadly, he passed away before reaching it.
The boy's death sparked outrage, with the family and hundreds of villagers gathering outside the hospital to demand accountability. The incident drew the attention of police and administrative authorities, who responded by deploying additional forces, including two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), to manage the situation. DSP Satyendra Bhushan Tiwari has taken immediate action, suspending the two police constables allegedly involved in the incident. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the police have assured that legal action will be taken against the officers based on the findings of the report.
