With rise in temperatures across the central India, authorities at Van Vihar national park and zoo in Bhopal have implemented a series of precautionary measures to shield animals from the intense summer heat. Awadhesh Meena, director of Van Vihar Park and Zoo, stated that all arrangements have been made to ensure the well-being of the animals housed in the park and its rescue centers. “In all the rescue housing of Van Vihar, we have ensured that all the coolers are in working condition. We have also installed curtains to protect animals from heat waves. Animals here are in relief,” he said.
To combat dehydration and rising temperatures, water holes across the park are being refilled regularly. Shade nets and thatched covers have also been set up in enclosures to reduce direct sunlight exposure. Special attention is being paid to vulnerable species, including big cats, bears, and herbivores.

These proactive steps reflect the park's commitment to animal welfare, particularly during harsh seasonal transitions. With temperatures expected to climb further in the coming weeks, Van Vihar’s initiatives aim to provide a safe and comfortable environment for its wildlife inhabitants.
