Women Playfully Clash with Men in Lathmar Holi Celebrations as Mathura Kicks Off Festivities

Everyone in the nation celebrates Holi with great fervour. However, Braj Ki Holi is not observed anywhere else in the world the way it is in Barsana, Vrindavan, Mathura, Nandgaon, and Gokul. In Mathura, women were seen enjoying hitting their husbands with a Lath while celebrating the Lathmar Holi, a part of the Braj Ki Holi celebration. In the video women are seen enjoying as they are hitting men with a lath.

Poonam Sharma, a resident of Delhi, said, “I have come here from Delhi. I came here for the first time to watch this Holi, but now I am also participating in it. I am very excited about it. It is going to be fun. I could not stop myself from playing.”

On March 7, a huge crowd gathered to celebrate the Braj Ki Holi 2025 at Shri Radha Bihari Inter College, where CM Yogi kickstarted the festival.

Braj Ki Holi is played only for the first two days, but the events are held for 40 days. The list of events include:

  • Laddu Holi in Barsana on 7th March,
  • Lathmar Holi in Barsana on 8th March,
  • Lathmar Holi and Rawal's Holi in Nandgaon on 9th March,
  • 10 March Holi at the birthplace, Thakur Banke Bihari temple (Phoolo Ki Holi),
  • 11th March: Lathmar Holi in Gokul,
  • 13 March Village Phalain,
  • 15th March Dauji Ka Huranga,
  • 16 March Huranga of Nandgaon,
  • 17th March Jab Ka Huranga,
  • 18 March Charkula Mukhrai,
  • 19 March Huranga of village Bathain,
  • 20 March Gidoh Huranga,
  • 21 March Lathmar Mahavan,
  • 22 March Rangji Temple, Vrindavan.
