CIDCO Intensifies Action Against Illegal Debris Dumping, Four Trucks Seized in Navi Mumbai

In a major crackdown against unauthorised debris dumping, CIDCO has taken strict action against dump truck drivers illegally disposing of waste on lands acquired by the corporation in Navi Mumbai. Four dump trucks were caught near Atal Setu, Ulwe, Sector-12, Navi Mumbai, while attempting to unload hazardous debris in the area.

The illegal dumping of debris has become a growing concern, posing a significant threat to public health and the environment.

Chief Vigilance Officer Suresh Mengde has directed strict action against those involved in such violations. Acting on his orders, CIDCO, in collaboration with the vigilance department, security personnel, the engineering department, and the Navi Mumbai Police, conducted a joint operation on March 24, 2025. At around 3:15 PM, four dump trucks were intercepted at Atal Setu, Ulwe, Sector-12, Navi Mumbai, while attempting to unload hazardous debris in the area.

The drivers, identified as Salim Janmohammad Shaikh (56) from Dharavi, Babulal Kumbhakarna Vishwakarma (45) from Sangam Nagar, Meraj Mohammad Ibrahim Shaikh (32) from Lokmanya Nagar, and Mohammad Rafiq Shinkan Shaikh (49) from Govandi, were caught transporting debris that could be harmful to the environment and human health.

A case has been registered against the accused at Nhava Sheva Police Station under Crime No. 0031/2025. The police have invoked Sections 275 and 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, and legal proceedings have been initiated.

CIDCO has urged citizens to report any instances of unauthorized debris dumping within its jurisdiction. Residents can file complaints through the official website www.cidco.maharashtra.gov.in or notify the nearest police station.
