Extended Hours for Water Bill Payments in Mumbai: BMC Allows Late-Night Payments Until March 31

Mumbai residents can pay their water bills until midnight through March, as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has extended working hours at its Citizen Facilitation Centers.

The BMC stated that the extended hours would ease the payment process and provide relief to citizens. From Saturday, March 29, to Monday, March 31, 2025, residents can settle their dues even late at night. The BMC has also emphasized that Monday, March 31, 2025, is the final deadline for water bill payments.

To ease the financial burden on water connection holders, BMC has introduced the ‘Abhay Yojana’, a scheme offering a waiver on additional charges for those who make a one-time payment of outstanding water bills. Since March 31, 2025, marks the end of the financial year, special arrangements have been made to keep Citizen Facilitation Centers open even on weekends and public holidays. The centers will remain open on Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30, despite being weekly holidays, as well as on Monday, March 31, which is a public holiday for Ramzan Eid.

According to BMC regulations, residents within its jurisdiction must pay their water bills within one month of issuance. If the bill remains unpaid beyond this period, additional charges are levied. However, under the ‘Abhay Yojana’, these extra charges will be waived if the pending amount is paid in full before March 31.

With the financial year coming to a close, the BMC has urged all citizens, water connection holders, and government and semi-government offices to take advantage of this facility and clear their dues before the deadline. By doing so, they can benefit from the waivers provided under the Abhay Yojana and avoid further penalties.
