The Anti-Encroachment Department of the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) continued its crackdown on illegal construction by demolishing an unauthorised ground-plus-six-story RCC building in Ghansoli on Monday. Despite prior instructions to halt construction, the builders persisted, prompting the action.
The illegal structure was located in Sector 30, Ghansoli, with the first floor covering an area of 125.4 square meters. It was being developed on Survey Number 02.
CIDCO had previously issued a written notice under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning (MRTP) Act, Section 54(1), instructing the developers to cease construction. However, the developers disregarded the notice and continued with the work.
On February 17, CIDCO’s Anti-Encroachment Department, led by Chief Controller Dr. Jagannath Veerkar and Chief Vigilance Officer Suresh Mengde, executed the demolition using three Poclain machines. The operation was conducted under strict security measures to ensure smooth enforcement.
In the past two to three months, CIDCO has demolished multiple illegal structures across the city and has warned that the drive will continue in the coming days.
