Massive Demolition in Kharghar: CIDCO Razes Illegal ‘Hill View’ Building
This building had previously faced action from CIDCO in 2015-16, after which the land remained vacant for six years. However, as CIDCO failed to take possession of the plot, a new builder reconstructed the site two years ago, selling several flats to unsuspecting buyers. Disputes between the original and new builders eventually led to complaints reaching the state ministry, forcing CIDCO to intervene.
The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of CIDCO’s Chief Vigilance Officer, Suresh Mengdea and over 40 police personnel, along with senior officials and hundreds of workers.
The demolition has once again raised concerns over CIDCO’s handling of encroachments. Many have questioned why CIDCO does not immediately take possession of cleared land to prevent repeat offenses. Despite CIDCO claiming a shortage of land for reserved plots, unauthorized buildings continue to emerge in places like Kharghar, where nearly 10,000 sq. m. of land was encroached upon and turned into a high-rise.

CIDCO’s 100th Demolition in Kharghar
The latest demolition marks CIDCO’s 100th operation against unauthorized buildings in Kharghar. Officials have urged citizens to verify the legality of properties before purchasing to avoid falling victim to fraudulent builders.
"CIDCO’s action against illegal construction is ongoing. This is the 100th operation in Kharghar. Citizens should thoroughly investigate properties before purchasing to avoid being scammed," said Mengde, Chief Vigilance Officer, CIDCO.
