The Anti-Encroachment Department of the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) demolished an unauthorized ground-plus-one-story RCC building in Ghansoli earlier this week. Despite prior warnings to halt construction, the builders continued their work, prompting the action.

The illegal structure, spanning 108 square meters, was located in Sector 17, Ghansoli, on Survey Number 47. A few days prior, CIDCO had issued a notice under Section 54(1) of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning (MRTP) Act, ordering the developers to stop construction. However, they ignored the directive and proceeded with the work.

On February 13, CIDCO’s Anti-Encroachment Department, under the supervision of Chief Controller Dr. Jagannath Veerkar and Chief Vigilance Officer Suresh Mengde, carried out the demolition using three Poclain machines. The operation was conducted under strict security measures to ensure smooth enforcement.
