Navi Mumbai: Commuter Chaos Erupts as Key NMMT AC Buses to South Mumbai Abruptly Cancelled Without Notice
Dozens of commuters were left upset on Wednesday morning after several NMMT AC buses between Navi Mumbai and the World Trade Centre (WTC) in South Mumbai were abruptly cancelled. After a long wait in the blazing heat at their respective bus stations in Panvel, Kharghar, and Nerul, several passengers were shocked to find that three air-conditioned bus services on their itineraries had been abruptly cancelled. The 110/1 bus, which departs from Kharghar Sector-35 at 7:10 a.m., has been discontinued indefinitely beginning April 16, 2025. The next bus is 106/1, leaves Panvel at 7:20 a.m., and the third bus, 108/2, from Nerul Sector-46 at 8:00 a.m.
With no official notification of the cancellations, regular Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) bus commuters had to rely on an online Telegram group for information and updates on bus services. Many commuters were left in the lurch, so they went to nearby sections of Navi Mumbai to catch a bus to South Mumbai. Several more rushed to local railway stations to avoid being late for work.

A distraught female passenger, who asked not to be named, stated that she had been commuting from Nerul to WTC on a daily basis and had to wait at the bus stop for around half an hour. When she realised there were no buses running, she had to hunt for another method of transportation to travel over 44 kilometres during rush hour.
Dissatisfied with the cancellations, a group of daily riders is considering launching a signature drive and addressing NMMT officials to demand the immediate reinstatement of the three bus services.
