Navi Mumbai: Former BJP Corporator Bharat Jadhav Attempts Suicide at Karjat Police Station
Former BJP corporator Bharat Jadhav allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison at the Karjat Police Station in Raigad district, police said on Monday, February 17. The incident caused panic at the police station, and Jadhav was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
According to reports, Jadhav had been facing financial difficulties for the past few days. Before attempting suicide, he posted a video on Facebook, alleging that he had been cheated financially. He then went to Karjat Police Station, where he consumed poison. Soon after, he began feeling uneasy, prompting immediate medical attention.

Jadhav was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Navi Mumbai, where he is currently undergoing treatment. In the video, Jadhav claimed that he was under immense mental stress due to financial fraud. He alleged that he was harassed despite conducting his business honestly and that his work had been deliberately obstructed.
BJP Corporator Bharat Jadhav His Video on Facebook Said:
"I am taking this step today under extreme mental stress. The attitude of Valmiki Karad in society has grown to such an extent that it is impossible to work honestly. I was conducting my business ethically, but I still faced obstacles.
In my 25 years in politics, no one can claim that I made money through dishonest means, unlike some other politicians. Four to five years ago, we started a construction project in Karjat-Jamkhed taluka—Ramesh Asbe, Yunus Syed, Babychand Dhanawade, and myself. However, I don't know what happened between Ramesh Asbe, Sachin Ghaywal, and Nilesh Ghaywal, but for the last two and a half to three years, they have halted the construction work through intimidation.
Every now and then, Nilesh and Sachin Ghaywal send two or three cars filled with 30-40 men to the site, scaring away potential buyers. As a result, not a single booking has been made for the building. I have invested ₹3-4 crore, taking loans from banks, and now I am facing severe financial losses. The burden of loan repayments and interest is becoming unbearable.
I also started a business in Bhum taluka of Jamkhed to avoid trouble. In one of the projects, Munnabhai and Sandeep Awane from Beed joined as partners. We invested Rs 90 lakh and earned a profit of ₹60 lakh in 10-12 months. However, disputes arose over Rs 5-10 lakh, leading to physical fights and assaults on my other partner. I told them to resolve the issue peacefully, but they fabricated fake bills while clearing GACT payments, causing financial damage to our company despite no fault of ours.
A similar situation occurred in the Narendra Zurani case, which is even more shocking. I helped someone establish himself in Navi Mumbai, gave him opportunities, and supported his rise in society. But eventually, he started using political connections for his personal benefit. Datta Ghangale appointed him as district secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha for Rs 5 lakh, despite him having no prior connection with the party.
Zurani and his associates, including Vishal Dolas, Abhilash Mathew, Sachin Shinde, and Aniket, regularly harassed and abused me in public. Datta Ghangale even threatened me with a gang war. His family is aware that Zurani has been cheating me, yet his wife grabbed my collar and threatened me. There is a limit to how much defamation and targeting one can endure.
The government should investigate the business dealings of Narendra Zurani, as well as the projects in Ward No. 108. In Karjat-Jamkhed taluka, I purchased land worth crores of rupees, yet several individuals extorted commissions from me. Datta Pawar and Rupesh Pawar demanded Rs 5-7 lakh for cutting down trees and clearing roads. Now, they have dug up the road leading to my land, preventing me from selling it."
Authorities are investigating Jadhav's claims of financial fraud and harassment. Further updates on his condition and the case are awaited.
