Gujarat Governor Urges Strengthening of Arya Samaj’s Legacy at 150th Anniversary Event
Navi Mumbai: Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat lauded Maharishi Dayanand’s remarkable contributions to the nation, emphasizing his enduring influence on society. Speaking at the grand celebration of Arya Samaj’s 150th anniversary at the CIDCO Exhibition and Convention Center in Navi Mumbai on March 29, 2025, he highlighted how Arya Samaj has upheld its rich traditions and principles over the years. While acknowledging the need for renewed growth, he expressed confidence in the community’s ability to carry forward the legacy.
The event was graced by S.K. Arya, President of the Akhil Bharatiya Dayanand Sewashram Sangh and Chairman of JBM Group, as the guest of honor. Attendees included senior Arya Samaj officials, devotees, social reformers, and students from India and abroad.
“There was a time when Arya Samaj’s influence was so strong that its presence was instantly recognized. My family, like many others, was deeply involved in its mission. Back then, its reach was vast. Yet, despite the country’s population growth, our numbers have not expanded at the same pace,” said Devvrat. He emphasized that while many Arya brothers and sisters continue their efforts, the movement lacks a structured system to strengthen its congregations. “Speeches alone are not enough—we must live by our principles. Future generations should study in Gurukuls and embrace Rishi Dayanand’s ideology to preserve and expand Arya Samaj’s legacy.”
Organized by Arya Pratinidhi Sabha Mumbai in collaboration with Arya Pratinidhi Sabha Delhi, the event honored Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, who founded Arya Samaj in 1875 to promote Vedic principles, social equality, and nation-building. The celebration highlighted Arya Samaj’s contributions to education, women’s empowerment, healthcare, and youth development.
The occasion also reflected on recent milestones, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati’s 200th birth anniversary celebrations in 2023 and President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to his birthplace in Gujarat. Today, Arya Samaj operates over 10,000 branches in India and 32 countries, continuing its mission of selfless service.
S.K. Arya emphasized Arya Samaj’s pivotal role in social reform, urging continued efforts against social evils and greater focus on youth empowerment. The event featured cultural performances and a Social Impact Showcase, reinforcing Arya Samaj’s commitment to justice and progress.
